A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting my co-worker's dog, Cagney.

 

He's a funny little dog. They suit each other well.

Mr. Z's tail has been wagging all day; I've been giving him extra attention. I love spending time with the dog. Merry Christmas to me! And you, and you, and you!

Look At Those Ears

On Saturday we parked the car and I looked out the window only to be surprised by this hilarious little dog in the neighboring car.

First he was all smiles. When I got out of the car, he bared his teeth. Then he smiled again. Then he closed his mouth. Then more teeth followed by more smiles. It was so, so funny.

Shark + Bat

Over the weekend, Eric and I went to North Adams to visit my family. On Saturday morning, my mom and I happened upon a large group of dogs in costume. We had no idea it was going on, but we had to stop so I could get a few pictures. It wasn't easy, since all of the dogs were running around greeting each other!

I took this picture while they were waiting for a little Dog Parade to start. If I'd known, I would have dressed our dog in his superhero cape and entered him in the parade, too!

P.S. I love that animals are dressed up as different animals.

P.P.S. I also love that the bat is totally wearing a sweater. 

Little Emmy

Friday night we were invited to a friend's house for a little dinner party. We had fondue, and it was a brand new experience. I'd only ever heard of cheese or chocolate fondue, but this was a real dinner. There were potatoes and mushrooms plus chicken and beef, all of which could be cooked on our special forks in either oil or a beef broth. Who knew? 

We also got to meet this cutie patootie, named Emmy. She's about 3½ months old, and weighed something like 3 lbs. She's so tiny! Emmy's a Maltese, so I guess she won't be getting too much bigger; she'll probably get to be around 4 lbs. Holy moly, huh? She's pretty irresistible, and ridiculously well behaved!

HBS Clambake

On Labor Day, the HBS Partners Club held a Clambake for partners and their students.

These are the Partners Club committee members; they organized the big event! I'm glad they were able to enjoy themselves, because I know they worked hard to put this all together.

We missed most of the appetizers, because we were late, but we were in time for the clam chowder. Then they served full lobsters, grilled chicken, corn and coleslaw! There was watermelon for dessert, and it was absolutely perfect.

I guess we needed more dessert though, because after the clambake we got ice cream! While we were in line we saw this gorgeous English Mastif. She was pretty shy, and very soft!

Aidan Sitting On The Couch

Last night we went to our friends' house to watch this week's episode of Glee (DVR is awesome). Added bonus: our hosts have two beautiful dogs (plus two cats and two rabbits). They're not easy to photograph, but I did get a few shots of Aidan. He's a tall dog, and sometimes he sits on the couch. With his feet on the floor. And it's hilarious.

Our friends made a delicious dinner and I got to play with some animals. It was a great night. I love Glee!

Ellie

Just look at that face! Ellie belongs to our friends, and it's always such a treat to see her (and them, of course!). I miss having a dog in my everyday life, so I really enjoy spending time with with other peoples' pets.

Home For The Weekend

Eric and I finished up February in North Adams with my parents and my brother. Our drive out to The Berkshires was pretty long because it was raining and snowing and wintery mixing, but it was worth it.

I was really missing my family and it was so great to see them. I was also really excited about all of the snow because we've just been getting a lot of rain here in Boston. I'm not the only one who was enjoying it; Z, the dog, was having an awful lot of fun bounding around the yard.

Saturday, Eric and I went skiing. I'm embarrassed to say that it was my first time this season. Yikes! In high school and college I skied on an almost daily basis for at least 5 weeks during the winter. But the past few years I've been lucky to make it to the mountain just 2 or 3 times. Needless to say, getting on the mountain was the best. We had a great time.

Sunday In The South End

On Sunday afternoon we went to the South End to check out the SoWa Holiday Market. It was really crowded, but I did manage to pick up a gift for my sister.

We also spent some time exploring the area.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the 15 or so minutes we spent laughing at dogs playing in the dog park. There was one little dog, in particular, that was just the most adorable thing!

It was sort of a dreary day, weather-wise, and when it started raining we headed to the car. We bought coffee (Eric), hot chocolate (me), and an apple fritter to help us warm up and to perfect our day.

Mr. Z

One of my favorite things about spending time in North Adams is playing with my dog, Z.

My brother has two laser pointers and we entertained Z (and ourselves) for hours by making him chase red dots of light around the house. He's so funny. Just look at that face!

What A View

Last Sunday, the 22, I headed to North Adams for the start of holiday week. I spent Monday - Wednesday working from home, hanging out with my brother, and playing with the dog.

I had a wonderful time and enjoyed being back in the beautiful Berkshires.

JHill Design Studio Opening

Last night Eric and I headed over to South Boston (Fort Point) for JHill Designs' studio opening. It was really exciting to see Jennifer, the talented woman behind JHill Design, and her new work space. I forgot to bring my camera, but I had my blackberry, so I was able to get a few blurry photos. Stupidly, I didn't take one of Jennifer! What was I thinking?

Anyway, it was fun. And there were dogs!

We don't get over to South Boston very often, so I really like going there because the streets seem full of mystery since I don't know what to expect around the next corner.

Little Devil

I'm getting excited! Halloween is just around the corner. Somebody give me a bag full of candy!

Speaking of Halloween, when I was in North Adams, my mom and I found a doggy devil costume at Good Will for like $3. You know we couldn't resist!

As soon as we got home I squeezed Z into it. It was a little snug, but totally awesome. He's a wiggly little guy, so it was hard to get a photo.

Jack Russell Terriers

When I was home for the holidays, I went to the grocery store with my mom. We parked next to these completely adorable Jack Russell Terriers. They didn't bark at all; they just looked at us with curious eyes. They're so sweet! 

Shredded Sign

Like so many signs posted on telephone poles, this one has been forgotten. Since people rarely go around to take them down, passersby are often left wondering whether or not dogs were found or sofas were sold. 

Stand With A Dog

On a bathroom door, you will often find a picture of a man or a woman - these don't tell us to do anything, but they still gives us information. But don't you think this is a funny sign? What does it say? Stand with a dog! 

Z

Isn't he so handsome? He's my family's dog and he lives at home with my parents and my brother. My sister named him Z because he was the last puppy left of the litter. Cute, right? 

He's usually so crazy that photos are just a blur, but this one is actually pretty good. I've been missing him lately and I was happy to find this old picture. Sometimes he's a bad dog (see minute 9:11), but for the most part he's totally sweet (he'll even jump through hoops for me!). He's so loving and high-spirited that it's hard not to smile. 

Clean Up After Your Dog

As if this sign wasn't hilarious enough on its own, somebody went ahead and made edits. 

The person who made the speech bubbles was probably standing around waiting for their dog to do their business and thinking exactly what they wrote. 

The smiley faces are mystifying, and luckily they're fading away. 

As for the sign itself: at the bottom it says "$25.00 TO $200.00 FINE." Does anybody else think that's really funny? How do they decide how great or small the fine should be? Does it correlate with the size of the dog? I hope so!

Happy

I really love it when animals smile. I always wonder what they're thinking about. Does a smile mean the same thing to a dog as it does to me? I like to think so! I imagine this guy, Dozer, is truly happy to be in park. Is that drool due to excitement? It's quite possible.
