Home For The Weekend

Eric and I finished up February in North Adams with my parents and my brother. Our drive out to The Berkshires was pretty long because it was raining and snowing and wintery mixing, but it was worth it.

I was really missing my family and it was so great to see them. I was also really excited about all of the snow because we've just been getting a lot of rain here in Boston. I'm not the only one who was enjoying it; Z, the dog, was having an awful lot of fun bounding around the yard.

Saturday, Eric and I went skiing. I'm embarrassed to say that it was my first time this season. Yikes! In high school and college I skied on an almost daily basis for at least 5 weeks during the winter. But the past few years I've been lucky to make it to the mountain just 2 or 3 times. Needless to say, getting on the mountain was the best. We had a great time.

Hope your weekend was fabulous, too!

Field Box 20, Row A, Seats 1 - 4

On Wednesday our friends, Diane & Wally, invited us to go to a Red Sox game.

Diane got free tickets from her boss, so of course we said yes. We've paid $80 each to go before, so this was great. None of us knew exactly where the seats were going to be, but Diane's boss had made it clear that they were very, very good.

Do you know where the dugout is? We sat to the right of it. When I say to the right, I mean that Diane's seat was touching it. Oh yeah, we were also in the front row. The only people closer to the field were the photographers in the pit in front of us. Holy moly! And did I mention we didn't pay a dime for the tickets? Life is good.

A family with a little boy sat across the aisle from us, and we let him stand in front of us to try to get an autograph. He was very cute, but not loud enough to get anybody's attention.

The Sox played the A's. Unfortunately they lost, but it was still a great game. And Varitek played, so I can't really complain. :)

Many thanks to Diane & Wally for the tickets and a GREAT NIGHT OUT!

Pink Blossoms & Lens Flare

Hello, hello! It's been a few days, but now it's back to business as usual.

Thursday afternoon and all day Friday Eric and I were at HBS for the Admitted Students Welcome. We now have a better idea about what to expect in the coming months and years. We also made some friends. Can I just follow that with a WOO HOO!? It's nice to have friends who will be going through the same thing and learning with us. And I say us because even though Eric is the one who was admitted, it's pretty clear that partners are encouraged to participate in almost everything. And yes, I'm getting used to thinking of myself as the partner (and of Eric as my student).

Did everybody enjoy the weekend? Boston was (still is) beyond gorgeous. I took the photo during a meandering walk on Saturday morning. That night we met friends for drinks (and delcious after-dinner nachos) at Devlin's and we sat outside in T-SHIRTS! That's how warm it was. Wow.

In other news, my allergies and/or cold are officially over. That means that my head feels clear and I was so productive today. I'm finishing up a freelance website redesign, and it'll be live soon; check out Everything Little Miss later this week for a peek. I also put the finishing touches on a secret project, which I'll reveal on May 7.

I just have one last thought: yay Red Sox! They swept the Yankees this weekend and have now won 10 in a row. Plus, Ellsbury stole home last night!

Skiing In Maine

View from Sunday River

Eric, Brendon, & Leif

We drove up to Sunday River on Friday night with Brendon, Leif, and Alyssa. Saturday was a great day. The sun was out, the air was warm, and we were in Maine to ski, ski, ski! The boys and I hit the mountain around 11:15 and we skied for about 4 hours. I only went once last year, and twice the year before. It's sad, because I used to ski on an almost daily basis in high school and during my winter breaks in college. The half day of skiing was wonderul, but my legs burned like crazy. It was so worth it because skiing feels like flying if you do it right.

After downhill skiing, we met up with Alyssa. We all went to a late lunch and then headed over to a country club so cross country ski. Yes, that's right - skiing twice in one day! It was like heaven. The course was icy in the shade and slushy everywhere else, so we didn't stay too long. I enjoyed myself though.

The day was wonderful. We ended it with a late dinner at the Jolly Drayman. It's an Irish-style pub, and everything about it was delightful. The day was practically perfect. We were totally exhausted by the time we went to bed around midnight. Unfortunately, the people we shared a room with (strangers to us) snored really, really loudly all night. Geez Louise!

*Sorry the photos are a bit blurry. The Minolta's on its last legs; it's 6 years old!

Candle Pin Bowling In Maine

Eric on the left, Brendon on right

Eric won 2 of the 3 games

Eric and I went to Sunday River in Bethel, Maine with some friends this weekend. We drove up Friday evening after work. On our way, we stopped to go bowling. It was my first time using a small ball, and I got a big fat zero on my first turn. But I got better as the game progressed. It was great fun.

The next post will be about our action-packed Saturday in Maine.

A Night At The Garden

Last night we went to see the Celtics at the Garden with some friends.

It was a pretty bad day, weather-wise. As we were leaving our apartment, we opened the door to a downpour. We went back in so I could get my umbrella and The Schwarz could get a rain coat. This time we made it out the door, but I took one step and almost fell because it was so icy. We started to walk, but ended up just sliding down the driveway. We eventually made it to the train (without falling!), but it took us about 25 minutes to walk, slip, and skate the 2 blocks to our stop. Oh, and since it was raining, we had to navigate through ankle-deep puddles as well. We were drenched and I felt like I had about 2 cups of water in each shoe when we finally got on the train.

When we arrived at the Garden the Celtics were losing, but that didn't last long. They went on to win 119-100 in their 9th straight victory. Eddie House was the star of the night; he got 8 out of 9 3 pointers. It was pretty cool.

JumboTron camera guy spent a lot of time in our section, and the stupid drunk behind me spilled his beer all over my head (and my neck, shoulder, arm, and leg) trying to get on camera. After that, I was wet from head to toe. Good grief. As my hair dried, it got all stiff. And my face and neck were sticky. My scarf stinks. Yuck. Oh well, it happens.
